Last updated: 9 October 2026
This policy explains how Descent Perfumes (“we”, “us”) handles your personal data when you visit our website or buy from us, in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Template — pending legal review. This policy is a general template and should be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before it is relied upon.
1. Who we are
Descent Perfumes, 3-18-185/2, Shanti Nagar, Postal Colony, Opposite Narayana Junior College, Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh 533001, India, operates this website. For this policy we are the “Data Fiduciary” for the personal data described below.
2. What we collect
- Identity and contact: your name, mobile number and email address.
- Delivery details: shipping address, city, state and PIN code, and any delivery notes you add.
- Orders: the products you buy, order totals, coupon codes, payment method (online or cash on delivery) and shipment tracking details.
- Login: your mobile number for one-time-password (OTP) sign-in, or your Google account name and email if you sign in with Google.
- Payments: online payments are processed by Razorpay. We receive only a payment reference and status. We never see or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN or net-banking password.
- Technical data: basic device and browser information, IP address and pages visited, used to keep the site secure and working.
3. Why we use it
- To process, pack, ship and deliver your orders, and to collect cash on delivery.
- To verify your identity when you sign in (OTP).
- To send order confirmations, shipping and tracking updates.
- To answer your questions and handle returns, replacements and refunds.
- To prevent fraud and misuse, and to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
We process your data on the basis of your consent (which you give by using the site and placing an order) and for the legitimate uses permitted by the DPDP Act, such as fulfilling an order you asked for. We do not sell your personal data.
4. Who we share it with
We share only what each partner needs to do its job:
- Razorpay — to process online payments (UPI, cards, net banking).
- Fast2SMS — to send login OTPs and order SMS to your mobile number.
- WhatsApp (Meta) — when you chat with us on WhatsApp, and to send your order updates.
- Our courier partner (currently Delhivery) — your name, phone and address, to deliver your parcel.
- Google Firebase — secure sign-in and storage of account and order data.
- Resend — to deliver order confirmation emails.
- Netlify — website hosting.
- Analytics providers (for example Google Analytics), if enabled — to measure site usage in aggregate.
- Government or law-enforcement authorities, where the law requires it.
Some of these providers may store data on servers outside India. They are bound to protect it and to use it only on our instructions.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use essential cookies and your browser’s local storage to keep your cart, keep you signed in and remember preferences. If analytics are enabled, they may set cookies to count visits. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and sign-in may not work without them.
6. How long we keep it
- Order and invoice records: as long as Indian tax and accounting laws require (generally up to 8 years).
- Account details: while your account is active, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Login OTPs: a few minutes — they expire and cannot be reused.
- Support messages: up to 2 years after the conversation ends.
7. How we protect it
Data travels over encrypted HTTPS connections, access to order data is limited to authorised staff, and OTPs are stored only as one-way hashes. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your data we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as the DPDP Act requires.
8. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you can:
- ask what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
- ask us to correct, complete or update it;
- ask us to erase it (we may keep what the law requires, such as invoices);
- withdraw your consent at any time — this won’t affect past processing;
- nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf;
- raise a grievance with us, and then with the Data Protection Board of India.
To use any of these rights, email care@descentperfumes.in from your registered email, or message us from your registered mobile number. We aim to respond within 30 days.
9. Children
Our products are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has shared data with us, contact us and we will delete it.
